Brazilians and the Miami Real Estate Market

Brazilians are accounting for a rather large percentage of the home buyers in Miami and have significantly contributed to the overall upward trend in home sales in Miami for 2011. Right now it is a very affordable option for Brazilians to purchase in Miami rather than at home. Significant home price increases in Brasilia, Rio De Janeiro, and Sao Paulo have pushed these markets past most all U.S. cities in prices. Home prices in Brazil have increased 25% and continue to trend up. Another important motivator for Brazilian buyers is the currency’s 45% gain against the U.S. dollar since 2008, according to Bloomberg news.

The majority of Brazilians are buying for leisure reasons (solely or in addition to investment purposes) and Miami is the place to be for world-class shopping, dining, beaches, nightlife, and entertainment. It’s a place where wealthy Brazilians may pamper themselves and spend freely without the danger that wealth brings back home. This surge of home sales has caused developers to begin plans for future property construction.
