M-DC Miami Culinary Institute

Foodies and aspiring chefs love Miami-Dade College’s Miami Culinary Institute. Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus is a powerhouse in the Downtown Miami community and the institution just keeps on growing. In April they opened the Miami Culinary Institute, a welcome addition to the already well-rounded institution. It’s a great place for condo dwellers in neighboring Brickell and along Biscayne Boulevard near the Omni area to consider for evening and weekend classes or even dinner.
Their goal, according to the Institute’s website, is to “serve up food, culture and innovation.” They offer three main …

Miami International Wine Fair

Miami International Wine Fair

Wine fans, rejoice. It’s soon time again for yet another spectacular Miami wine event. September 23-25 brings this year’s the 10th annual Miami International Wine Fair! The fair will highlight over 1800 wines from over 20 countries and will feature product information booths, seminars, tastings, and more. Some fun seminars that really grab attention are “Bubbles: European Stars”, “Riesling Renaissance”, and “Sake: Exploring Diversity & Elegance”; while I’d definitely recommend “What Sells in America” and “Opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean” for industry professionals. The fair itself is industry-only while …

Island Gardens

Island Gardens

Several years ago, I scouted a location for an early morning fashion shoot. I needed an incredibly scenic spot, a place with powerful city views as well as plenty of nature. In short, I needed a location that encapsulated the spirit of Miami. Where was this? It was on Watson Island – the site of what is supposed to be the future Island Gardens – home to luxury yachting, leisure, dining, retail, entertainment, residences, and a fine resort.

The development of Island Gardens began in 2001, with initial agreements being made …

Spiaggia Condominium: A Jewel in Surfside

Head north, way north, on Ocean Drive. Through South Beach, and further and eventually the road will bring you to Surfside. Although the area on the surface seems a bit stuck in the 1960s and 70s there are some great condominiums in the area and stellar restaurants that are considered hidden gems. It’s worth exploring.
Spiaggia Ocean Condominium on 94th Street and Collins Avenue, facing a quiet strip of private beach is one of the main reasons to consider this elegant building. The beach chairs and umbrellas are waiting and ready to be set up. …
