Fisher Island – The 37th Most Expensive ZIP Code in the U.S.

Fisher Island, a sparkling, private island community in the Biscayne Bay, is one of the most luxurious locales in the United States. Just ask Forbes – they ranked this Miami Beach island to be number 37 in the country as the most expensive ZIP code.

The island is gorgeous and has a history just as interesting. Carl Fisher traded the island to William Kissam Vanderbilt II for Vanderbilt’s mega yacht – after his many attempts at developing the island were disrupted by politics. Vanderbilt proceeded to have a spectacular mansion, guest houses, pools, tennis courts – the works – built for him and his wife and they enjoyed the fruits of their own private island to get away from it all. This mansion and it’s surrounding properties inspired Fisher’s original idea – decades later – and Fisher Island was born.

Don’t fear island living will inconvenience you in any fashion – Fisher Island is a short ferry trip away from mainland Miami Beach and the island itself stands quite strong on its own with a day school, several restaurants, a fire station, sports, social entertainment, a salon, a spa, a fitness center, and of course the finest round-the-clock security.
